Crayton, the original owner of one of the parcels of land, stipulated prior to selling, that any development must be thoroughly planned and approved. The name of the main road was changed from Jasmine Road to Crayton Road. After homesites were made available, Link, with the cooperation of the city, set aside 500 feet on the Gulf of Mexico for a private beachfront park for the exclusive use of Moorings residents. In 1963, The Moorings Country Club was built. The club offers residents a well-appointed clubhouse with excellent dining facilities and an 18-hole executive golf course.
